Bio
I am an artist with a collaborative socially engaged practice involving storytelling, film and radio making and the production of social spaces. My work is informed by the view that all people, including children and young people should have the space, time and opportunity to socialise, participate in their community and society, have fun, access their creativity and engage with the arts. Facilitation is a key area of my practice and I work with children, young people and adults often in educational settings, to produce collaborative storytelling, film and radio work. I believe that collaboration and collaborative arts practices can be a tool for modelling a more equitable society and just future and I tend to emphasise collaborative approaches to making work together. I also work with the Arts Council as a creative associate on the Creative Schools project, with KidsOwn on their panel of associate artists and on BLAST and TAP programmes. I am also an organiser and member of community led environmental group Friends of Ardee Bog in which I am involved in engaging with young people and the wider community and I often work collaboratively as Spooky Beore.
